As Executive Director of Root-Pike WIN (RPW), I facilitate multiple watershed restoration efforts within the Root River, Pike River, Pike Creek, Oak Creek and Wind Point drainage basin. Root-Pike WIN is a grassroots environmental nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, restoring, and sustaining the ecosystems in the Root-Pike watershed through the funding and facilitation of a regional network of locally-initiated projects. Root-Pike WIN is an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2001, and has awarded over to more than 100 local conservation projects in the Root-Pike Watershed. Root-Pike WIN focuses on getting EPA-approved watershed restoration plans implemented in the municipalities in which the watersheds reside.The Executive Director role includes collaborating with a diverse group of watershed stakeholders, including county and municipal officials, agricultural landowners, private landowners, local businesses, educators, and federal and state agencies. My leadership responsibilities include coordinating restoration plan implementation committees for each watershed; developing educational and outreach programs that will encourage stakeholders to move forward with watershed plan implementation; tracking development plans within the watersheds and promoting low impact development and green infrastructure planning; promoting the incorporation of watershed plan goals, objectives, and recommended actions into municipal comprehensive plans, codes, and ordinances; and growing the organization to support additional staff.To learn about the recently completed restoration plans for the Pike River, Root River, and Windpoint watersheds, please visit
