Evans, the CEO of Navitaire, has had a remarkable 4-decade career in the airline industry. Just over three decades ago, he developed a groundbreaking airline reservations system known as Open Skies that launched Ticket-Less Travel and enabled the rise of low-cost carriers in the 90’s. This system revolutionized the way flights were sold by eliminating the need for paper tickets. While e-ticketing eventually became widespread among full-service carriers, Evans’ original concept paved the way for direct sales to travelers, reduced barriers for new airlines, and enabled innovative revenue-generation strategies. The success of Open Skies attracted the attention of HP, and subsequently Accenture’s enterprise PRA Solutions, which merged the businesses to form Navitaire in his leadership, Navitaire, has evolved significantly. Now owned by Amadeus, it remains at the forefront of the industry. Navitaire was one of the first reservations platforms to fully embrace the public cloud, powering digital commerce for airlines worldwide. Their solutions cover areas such as reservations, ancillary sales, loyalty programs, revenue management, revenue accounting, and business intelligence.
