ABOUT DATTATREYA BHANDALKAR
As a social scientist with a Ph.D. from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, I have dedicated my academic career to studying the de-notified tribes of Maharashtra and their resistance to stigma and exclusion. My research has explored the labeling of de-notified tribes, from a sociological perspective.I have held academic appointments as a Research Officer at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, where I conducted social and anthropological studies of nomadic tribes in India. I have also served as a Research Fellow at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, and an Assistant Professor (ad-hoc) at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.Throughout my academic journey, I have been fortunate to receive grants and fellowships that have supported my research. These include the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) Fellowship in 2012, the University Grants Commission (UGC) Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in 2014.My passion for understanding and advocating for marginalized communities has driven my academic pursuits. I am committed to utilizing my research to contribute to positive social change and promote inclusion and equity.
