I am currently leading a transformative project with the School of Hospitality at WelTec and Whitireia, focused on modernizing and digitizing their operational processes. The project replaces an outdated system for managing ingredient orders, stock levels, and class cost calculations for cookery and baking programmes, enhancing overall efficiency.As Senior Software Engineer, I oversee the full-cycle development of a web-based application that optimizes the management of ingredients, recipes, and costs. The solution includes real-time stock tracking, expiry date management, and automated cost calculations, designed to scale with the institution’s needs.Key Responsibilities:*Leadership: Spearheading the technical direction and overseeing the software development lifecycle, from design to deployment.*Collaboration: Leading cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals and enhance user experience.*Innovation: Developing a scalable and secure application that optimizes inventory control and cost management.*Mentorship: Providing guidance to a software engineer, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.*Security & Quality: Ensuring the application meets cybersecurity standards and applying software testing best practices.Skills & Technologies Used:*Throughout the project, I leverage skills in frontend and backend development, software testing, database design, and project management. My expertise in cybersecurity ensures the application is secure, and I mentor a software engineer, fostering teamwork and collaboration. My experience with Agile methodologies ensures the project’s success, aligning technical and business objectives effectively.Impact:*The solution improves operational efficiency, enabling real-time tracking of inventory and costs. It also integrates a sales module for tracking product performance and profitability, providing insights for strategic decision-making.
