ABOUT DASHA BARSKY
Throughout my academic and professional history, a number of themes have shone through - a passion for understanding human behaviour, a love of all things technical, and a keen eye for detail and quality. This has all been leading up to working in my dream industry: in games development. Beginning with an academic foundation in Psychology and Language Sciences, focusing on statistical rigour and with key modules in programming skills, my career then led me to work for almost 7 years as a consultant in the Experience Analytics department at Merkle, working with a number of high-profile clients, and eventually reaching an Associate Director position. From here I decided it was time to follow the dream I\'d always harboured, and took a leap of faith to start a new career, working in Quality Assurance for video games development. I started at Rocksteady Studios - to whom I\'m very grateful for giving me a chance at my first role in the industry- and am now a QA Analyst at the lovely Trailmix Games. My focuses are- Building out test cases for upcoming features, in a way that is maintainable and easy to pick up for new testers- Coordinating testing for my feature areas (from both internal and outsource testers)- Owning and developing the Analytics tracking testing process for new and existing features- Static testing of all relevant materials at every stage of feature development (e.g. reviewing design specs, dialogue/scripts, etc.)While an unusual route into the industry, it\'s meant that I\'m able to bring to my role a unique blend of analytical skills, creative problem-solving ability, and technical acumen. And of course, I wouldn\'t be here if I didn\'t have a lifelong, genuine joy about games!I\'d love to chat with anyone about games, data, psychology, or the intersection between all three - please feel free to reach out if that interests you!
