ABOUT DARYL SMITH
Graduated Joseph E. Brown High School in Atlanta in 1972. I served in the US Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Independence CV-62 from 1972 to 1975 and am a Vietnam-era veteran. I started my fire service career in May 1977 with the City of East Point Fire Department and retired on April 30, 2006, after 29 years of service and became a member of Sandy Springs Fire Rescue in December 2006. I have 36+ years of fire service experience in the state of Georgia. I have an Associate in Applied Science degree from DeKalb College in Fire Science Technology, a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management with a major in Public Safety Administration from Ashford University, and a Masters of Arts in Organizational Management with a major in Public Administration. I have received my Chief Fire Officer Designation (CFOD) from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) and Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) and have obtained a member status of the Institution of Fire Engineers (MIFireE). I am an active member of Ashford University’s Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda (ASL) National Honor Society. I also hold many national certifications from the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (NPQ) along with Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate (EMT-I).
