Since February 2010 I have had the opportunity to partner with patients and their families through Kingston General Hospital’s Patient- and Family-Centred Care Program. KGH is committed to ensuring patient experience advisors are full members of every council, committee or working group making decisions which materially affect the patient experience. To that end I support the recruitment, orientation and education of patient experience advisors. That support continues as they partner with staff and physicians throughout the organization. I have also been involved with educating staff on Patient- and Family-Centred Care. KGH currently has over 60 advisors and is actively recruiting more. I am interested in learning what others are doing to engage patients and their families and how best to support and sustain the program.
