    Jan 2024 — Present

My focus at GitLab is to bring the value of DevOps and Agile to the critical functions of Digital Engineering and Embedded Systems for teams doing any form of discrete manufacturing (physical product creation) including Aerospace, Automotive, Defense Tech, IoT, Semiconductors and Smart Everything. The physical devices and machines in human life are becoming increasingly software intensive and the IoT edge is demanding more capability and flexibility. Shared, zonal compute models and standardized platforms are taking root on the edge. In my opinion, as this industry-wide transformation proceeds, we can thoughtfully and carefully infuse more of the techniques of DevOps and Agile used by software-only products to create a flow of continuous customer value innovation. At the same time digital technology embedded into machines and devices has to be done securely and stably because crashes and hangs have the potential to cause monetary damages and can harm human life. The whole-cloth concepts of DevOps and Agile from the \"software-only products\" world must be adapted and tuned to the type of physical product being created.Checkout this bit on why your organization\'s ability to do Digital Innovation is directly related to the automation of both your Software Delivery capability and your Digital Engineering capability: The Digital Transformation Journey to Continuous Customer Value Innovation: https://fastlinks.io/vcm
