The Japanese have a concept called \"Ikigai\" that is usually used to indicate the source of one\'s value in life or \'the things that make one\'s life worthwhile\'. A general explanation would be - the part of a venn diagram that overlaps all the following subsets. 1)What you love. 2)What the world needs. 3)What you can be paid for. 4)What you are good at. I came across this concept recently and it has changed the way i view my career. Simply put 1)What i love - Finding practical, but out of the box solutions for everyday problems. 2)What the market needs - E-mobility experts who design products/services, keeping the customer\'s \"job to be done\" and user experience in mind. 3)What I can be paid for - Using Design thinking approach to modify or augment the product/service according to customer needs. 4)What i am good at - Strategic thinking, Market research, Customer-centric product development, Certain aspects of Design Thinking have greatly affected not only my career choices but my personal life as well. I truly believe that approaching any problem in this way helps to get varied perspectives by keeping our minds open to new possibilities. I am now looking for opportunities where I can apply these principles in a professional setting and can help to improve my next project.
