In this most recent role I worked as a full-stack software engineer. In brief, the project goal is to develop a cross-platform mobile application delivering general and personalized news content, to a global audience compromised of HSBC employees. At the project inception I was the sole developer, creating the initial proof of concept application, built using Ionic (an angular based development framework sitting on top of Cordova, which provides the interfaces for cross platform iOS and Android applications). Following on from a successful pilot release, I worked as a system architect, designing and implementing APIs acting as an intermediary between Sitecore (used for content management), and the Mobile application API serving content in a mobile friendly manner. Securing APIs, and providing a means of identifying users was achieved using an implementation of Identity Server, interfacing with HSBC’s internal active directory via their BYOD infrastructure. Finally I had the opportunity to work with Microsoft’s Xamarin tooling which was the chosen technology for the final mobile deliverable.

ABOUT DARREN SCHWARZ
Darren has been involved in IT since as the CO-Founder and Technical Head of where he was responsible for the conception, architecture and development of a B2B system which revolutionised the recruitment industry by automating the time consuming, labor intensive process of posting, tracking and fulfilling job advertisements. His has vast experience managing projects from an initial idea all the way through to production, and his experience of technical sales, project management and technical delivery, were a perfect fit when joining iCrossing in September 2009. Darren joined on an initial contractor basis. Within in a year, having accepted a permanent senior developer role, promotion saw appointment to the position of Head of Technical Build. Shortly after leaving iCrossing Darren was employed by NASDAQ as a Senior Technical Specialist working for 1 year and 3 months on a PR platform, particularly focused on their social network analysis systems. Since leaving NASDAQ Darren has completed on several contracts, including; working for MrSite as a Lead developer, on a green field project creating an entirely new platform for their shop and site-builder offering. MrSite subsequently sold to a 3rd party achieving their exit route, and The French Bedroom Company which was a short consultancy requiring understanding of NGINX best practices, and coordinating a 3rd party SEO agency, and separate 3rd party Development agency. Most recently, working for HSBC has provided an opportunity for Darren to exercise his full range of capabilities. Whether it be architecture, hands on development, researching new technology, or mentoring, and providing guidance to team-mates, Darren Schwarz thoroughly enjoys the process of continuous improvement, and seeking new knowledge, which is inherent to a successful career in the technology space.
