ABOUT DARREN ELDER

I was educated at the University of Stirling, where I graduated with a BA Hons in Business Studies and followed this with a MSc in Environmental Management (Energy). This underpins my approach to business development and environmental stewardship, providing a platform to build on in my career, conscious of the energy transition.I began my career in the energy industry as a Graduate Business Development Executive, where I developed key skills such as key account management, networking, market intelligence and customer relations. I have since transitioned into an External Sales Engineer role where I have further developed my skills to deliver excellent customer service, drive profitable sales revenues and contribute to budgeting and financial forecasting. Over the years I have gained core skills in presenting and public speaking, whilst also growing my professional network. I have covered a wide range of topside and subsea equipment rental/ sales services to support customers projects across oil & gas, renewables and decommissioning sectors. Equipment has ranged from back deck support, such as pumps and reels; subsea cutting, recovery and cleaning; survey & robotics, and ROV/ diver tooling, including bespoke solutions. I now work as Business Development Coordinator Renewable Energy Europe for EPI Group, where I am responsible for lead generation for renewable energy projects across Europe, with a particular focus on the offshore wind market. This role was the natural progression for my career, as renewables had peaked my interest during my Masters degree and was always an industry I wanted to work in. I have also held the role of Chair for the group, ‘Emerging Professionals in Late Life and Decommissioning’. This underlined my commitment to engage with young people and help encourage new talent into our industry. In my spare time I play football at semi-professional level for Brechin Victoria JFC in the Midlands Football League.
