ABOUT DARREN BURNELL

I have over 11 years of experience working in internal audit, risk assurance, compliance and conduct risk roles across industries in both the private and public sectors. Having worked in Social Housing, Finance, Banking, Retail and most recently Global Commodities, Warehousing and Logistics (GCWL); for companies such as Barclays Bank, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Royal Bank of Scotland, DFS Group and Henry Bath & Son Ltd; notably being member of the DFS Internal Audit team that won the 2021 Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Outstanding Team - Private Sector award. I have experience in helping to create and build a function, audit planning and execution, and leading a team through coaching and performance management. I am comfortable working autonomously or as part of a team in a fast-paced, target-driven environment where agile working and the ability to adapt to change is a daily requirement. I am a excellent communicator, and I excel at developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and colleagues alike. I am adaptable to working with colleagues and clients from all levels of a business hierarchy and I can change my working style accordingly. I am hardworking, enthusiastic, and driven to learn, improve and succeed in all I do.
