The goal of MedWater is to empower communities to own the critical components of their public health infrastructure. Over the last three years we\'ve met this goal with every community MedWater has assisted with sustainable public health services!MedWater is a collaborative strategy for improving Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) in poor communities marginalized by economics, race, education, language and culture. WASH programs build a foundation for personal and economic development that significantly impacts health and helps pull communities out of poverty.In Ecuador, local community health promoters have been trained to educate and coordinate communities in WASH services. Our partner organization Fundacion MedWater allows operations to be acknowledged by the Ecuadorian government and facilitates collaboration with local government agencies. Fundación MedWater is registered with the Ministry of Economics and Social Inclusion.In Uganda, a partnership with Katosi Women Development Trust is building capacity for women to repair their own wells and treat water in surrounding villages. By providing training in safe water management, latrine construction, and hygiene education, communities are afforded the tools they need to improve their health.
