ABOUT DARRELL LONG
Dr. Darrell D.E. Long is Distinguished Research Professor of Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Engineering. He is Professor ad Honorem at Universidad Católica del Uruguay and an Associate Member of CERN.He served for over a decade on the University of California President’s Council on the National Laboratories and contributed to Science & Technology, National Security, and Intelligence committees. He was a member of the National Research Council’s TIGER Committee, the Committee on Defense Intelligence Agency Technology Forecasts and Reviews, and the Committee on Science and Technology for Defense Warning. He serves on the Intelligence Science and Technology Experts Group (ISTEG) of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.He was Editor-in-Chief of ACM Transactions on Storage and Letters of the Computer Society. In 2002, he founded the Conference on File and Storage Technologies (FAST).His contributions include metadata separation in file systems, scalable deduplication, and security frameworks for distributed storage.He is an Fellow (2006) for storage systems architecture and performance, and a Fellow of the (2008).
