Leveraging my FEMA training, as part of LAFD CERT, Battalion 18, South Bureau, I have participated in many planning and disaster response exercises, as well as worked closely with CERT Bureau Coordinators to help implement various initiatives, including multiple Neighborhood Mapping Exercises, the Neighborhood Team Program (NTP), Radio Systems Planning, Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Cache Design. I have established and personally maintain the Battalion 18 GMRS Repeater Zello Gateway. I have worked with Bureau Coordinators to test multiple types of Radio gear, film training and awareness videos, personally designed and created a grab-and-go Damage Assessment Team pack video, and also have performed in-field Disaster Cache refreshes during the Pandemic. As a Team Leader, in the event of a natural disaster or upon being called out to deploy by FEMA or the LAFD, I am equipped and stand ready to establish a well-provisioned CERT Staging Area and deploy multiple teams (Damage Assessment, Search-and-Rescue, Medical, etc) out across my area of responsibility.
