Development director at leading build-to-rent investor / developer Placefirst responsible for driving UK growth. The Northern-based developer specialises in transformational built-to-rent schemes with a focus on placemaking, that provide residents a real alternative to home ownership. He will guide and lead the acquisition, development, planning and design teams, following through to the onsite project commencement. As well as overseeing new developments, Darran is responsible for continuing and building upon strategic relationships, working with internal teams, external providers and partnerships leading the company’s geographical growth across the UK with ambitious plans to expand its portfolio. As the need for affordable family rental housing is greater than ever, Darran will be working closely with local authorities, landowners and other housebuilders to accelerate construction and delivery, by offering an alternative to home ownership and sharing development risk as well as acquiring existing investments and estates. Darran has 30 years’ experience in the development industry, having joined from Peel L&P as development director responsible for Liverpool Waters. In the past he\'s held director roles with Petre, providing strategic advice on the delivery of residential and mixed use projects. Prior to this he was Managing Director of Engine of the North, Cheshire East Council\'s wholly owned development company, formed to undertake development of the Council\'s £400m assets delivering regeneration and capital receipts. He also spent 15 years as Development Director at Muse Developments responsible for numerous schemes throughout the North West including Ashton Moss, South Rings and on behalf of English Cities Fund, St Pauls Square, Liverpool.
