I currently direct a major contract between the State of Rhode Island and my organization that includes deliverables related to offering patient health information to hospitals and provider practices via the statewide health information exchange (HIE), improvement of data quality, assessing the needs of clinicians to improve patient care, and exploring ways to use the HIE for public health purposes. I also have extensive experience writing and leading federal grants, addressing risk management and compliance concerns (as the HIPAA Privacy Officer), and leading and developing a high-performing staff. Previously, my team completed both a four-year federal grant program to provide technical assistance, quality improvement, and practice transformation support to primary and specialty care providers in the Rhode Island, and a five-year federal grant program to assist providers with meeting the Medicare and Medicaid Promoting Interoperability Program requirements including meaningful use of electronic health record (EHR) systems. The work entrusted to the Rhode Island Quality Institute is fast-paced, cutting edge and progressive, and satisfies my passion for using data to improve the lives of all people in Rhode Island.
