Health & Safety: Directed and managed curriculum and trainer development, program planning, implementation and evaluation. Awarded $17 M+ in government grants. Wrote multi-year and annual strategic plans for grant-funded training programs, prepared grant budgets, and maintained relationships with funders. Developed curriculum and conducted worker training on industrial hygiene, chemical hazards, ergonomics, nanotechnology, mold, shiftwork, policy, electrical hazards and others. Investigated and wrote reports on more than 100 workplaces with hazards including chemicals, ergonomics, and traumatic injuries. Collaboratively developed health and safety guidelines on nanotechnology and ergonomics. Nominated by UAW for Presidential Appointment to U.S. Chemical Safety Board. Served on management team for joint union-employer health and safety research programs. Developed strategy and advocacy plans leading to House passage of a chemical disaster prevention bill Testified before two U.S. Senate Committees and one Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, Authored comments to four federal agencies on proposed actions related to cancer policy, chemical security, crystalline silica, nanotechnology, record-keeping and other issues. Effective Communication: Wrote press releases and an op-ed. Delivered Workers’ Memorial Day Address to audience of hundreds. Delivered presentations to national professional organizations, universities, and government agencies.
