   I ensure that purchase requisitions and purchase orders are completed and properly approved in accordance with the established policies and procedures. I also, ensure that competitive bids are sought for goods and services through a process that circumvents any appearance of favoritism or conflicts of interest and reflects prudent fiscal management. As Purchasing Manager I review requisitions; confer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule; select products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items; advise management on purchasing policies and state laws; determine method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid; prepare purchase orders or bid requests; review bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority; maintain procurement records such as items or services purchased, cost, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories; approve invoices for payment and review decisions made by other individuals and makes recommendations that may have significant impact to the university. My basic duties also include but are not limited to: • Review requisitionsReview requisitions for appropriate approvalsReview requisitions for appropriate general ledger codingReview requisition for most cost effective vendor, given vendor list.• Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.Propose Wiley College approved vendor listProposed distribution and develop of approved vendors.• Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items to select the best values/quality for Wiley CollegeLeads cross functional group, as appropriate.• Advises management on purchasing policies and state laws.By advising management in writingAdvises management on purchasing policies and practices for federal programs and documents same.• And much more!
