ABOUT DARIUS DMELLO

I am a second-year student in McMaster University’s Automotive & Vehicle Engineering Technology program seeking a 4-month co-op effective May 2026. I have developed a strong foundation in automotive systems, embedded electronics, mechanical design, and engineering analysis. My interests sit at the intersection of mechanical and electrical engineering, where I enjoy building, testing, and optimizing real components that contribute to vehicle performance and reliability.Currently, I am a Firmware/Power Management Systems Member on the McMaster Solar Car Project, where I work on PCB assembly, CAN bus and SPI communication, ESP32 integration, and vehicle data acquisition systems. This role has allowed me to gain hands-on experience with electrical testing, firmware logic, and cross-functional teamwork alongside the power, battery, and mechanical sub-teams.Before university, I completed a co-op as an Automotive Service Technician at Acura of Hamilton, where I performed diagnostics, inspections, brake and suspension work, and general maintenance. This experience gave me valuable insight into real-world automotive systems and strengthened my ability to understand vehicles from both a technician’s and an engineer’s perspective.I also contribute to my program’s student community as the Automotive II Representative for the Bachelor of Technology Association and as a representative within the ITE McMaster Student Chapter. These roles have helped me build strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills while supporting academic and professional development events for fellow students.
