About Darius Beckham

Darius Beckham is a lifelong Dayton resident and public servant elected to the Dayton City Commission in 2025. His work centers on strengthening neighborhoods, expanding economic opportunity, and building a safer, more equitable city for all residents.Beckham holds degrees in Political Science, Sociology, and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Dayton. He began his career with AmeriCorps as a Neighborhood Organizer, bringing residents, businesses, and local government together to drive community progress. He later served as Legislative Aide to Mayor Nan Whaley and Senior Policy Aide to Mayor Jeffrey Mims, helping advance key city priorities and major initiatives.Beyond City Hall, Beckham serves as Chair of the Omega Community Development Corporation and President of the Hall Hunger Initiative Board, leading efforts in neighborhood revitalization and food access.A graduate of the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative and Leadership Ohio, Beckham is focused on positioning Dayton for long-term growth by strengthening its neighborhoods, attracting investment and talent, and ensuring the city’s future is defined by shared prosperity, opportunity, and resilience.
