Berlin Exchange Medicine (BEM) is the first journal for student research in the life sciences of the German-speaking area. We offer authors the opportunity to publish their own research combining low-threshold access with high-quality while also establishing a modern post-publication peer review. We provide constructive feedback and materials to guide students through the process of publishing their first papers. Providing a platform and a community for students in science, we empower future scientists to become active, critical members of the scientific community and think “outside the box” through our truly inter- and transdisciplinary approach to student research.As Co-Founder, I strive to integrate innovative elements of scientific publishing into BEM to sustainably improve the transparency of peer-review and overall quality of biomedical research by shaping the next generation of young scientists.
