ABOUT DARIN GURIES

I have worked in Washington D.C. for over 18 years and have developed a reputation for working effectively with staff and members in both Republican and Democratic offices to deliver results for my employer and our members. As Head of U.S. Government Affairs for FIA, I engage with staff and members of the U.S Senate and U.S. House of Representatives on issues important to our member companies; including derivatives and digital assets policy. Prior to my time at FIA, I worked at JPMorgan for 3 years as a member of the Federal Government Relations where I led engagement on Capitol Hill on issues impacting derivatives, digital assets, Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity and data privacy. Prior to that, for over 7 years, I served on the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, where I led policy and strategy for Ranking Member John Boozman, former Chairman Pat Roberts, and Committee Republicans on a broad portfolio of issues including digital assets, derivatives, rural development, broadband, energy, and farm credit. This included mentoring junior teammates to ensure adequate staffing of meetings and issues, effective use of human capital, and others’ professional growth. In 2018, I managed policy and conference negotiations between Republican and Democratic Senate and House Ag Committee staff on three of the twelve titles of the $867 billion Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, which was signed into law after passing the Senate with a historical vote margin of 87 to 13. Before serving on the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, I worked in the Washington D.C. offices of senators representing my home state of Kansas.
