Assistant Director - Facility Operations - University Union @Cal Poly Associated Students, Inc
My responsibilities include ensuring the safety and security of those who visit and work in the University Union and the Orfalea Family and Children\'s Center. To that end, my role encompasses policy development, employee training, compliance with campus, state, and federal law, assessment of current practices and routine evaluations of all facility operations practices. With the help of a very talented team of student and full-time staff, I manage two facilities visited daily by the public, students, Cal Poly faculty and staff, guests, parents, children and dignitaries. The Julian A. McPhee University Union is an historic, architecturally significant and award winning Cal Poly facility that my team and I strive to keep looking and functioning as if it was brand new despite its 45-year-old age. The Children\'s Center is a home away from home for Children who rely on clean and safe spaces for their minds and bodies to thrive. The challenge of maintaining and operating each of our facilities and setting a high bar for ourselves is an obligation I take seriously. My goal is for all of our stakeholders to have absolute trust and confidence in our ability to preserve, manage and improve the buildings in our care.
