ABOUT DAREEN CHARAFEDDINE
Educational leader, educator and researcher with over 20 years of experience in education and educational leadership across K-12 and postsecondary contexts. I hold a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Toronto and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University. My work is grounded at the intersection of school leadership and educator preparation. I lead and support teams in K–12 settings while also teaching future educators and leaders in higher education, bringing a practice-informed, inquiry-driven approach to both. My leadership focuses on building strong, responsive school cultures, developing educators, and advancing meaningful, student-centered learning. Grounded in both research and practice, I approach leadership as a process of navigating complexity with judgement, courage and a strong sense of responsibility to the communities we serve. My doctoral research examines how school leaders exercise agency, take risks, and advocate for equity within complex and often highly structured systems—challenging conventional assumptions about autonomy and innovation in education. Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT), committed to thoughtful, context-responsive and equity-oriented leadership.
