About Darby Baham

Darby Baham is an author with books published by Harlequin Special Edition, where she signed an initial three-book deal in 2020 and a second three-book deal in 2022. Her sixth and latest book, A Risk Worth Taking, was released in July 2025. All books can be found at darbybaham.com/books. Darby is also the deputy director of Strategic Communications with The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center. There she leads strategic conversations with policy and research staff around content development, innovative ways to engage their audiences, and opportunities to lift up their expertise as part of the CSG Justice Center Center’s brand. She also helps develop short- and long-range communications strategies to ensure the CSG Justice Center’s content effectively promotes the organization’s work and communicates complex criminal justice policy issues in a clear and compelling way. Previously, Darby worked as the public affairs specialist for the D.C. Department of Corrections, where she helped manage the agency\'s internal and external communications efforts and served as the publications manager, social media manager, photographer, and web content manager. Before then, she was a writer/editor with the D.C. Department of Transportation for four years. And for five years, she served as creator/editor of Modern Teen, a youth centered magazine at Martha’s Table Teen Program in Washington, D.C. Darby has also freelanced for numerous websites and magazines, including in The Washington Post\'s \"Solo-ish\" column and with Heart & Soul Magazine, Blavity, Elan Extreme Magazine, Honey’s e-Magazine, and The D.C. Examiner website. The New Orleans, LA native earned her MA in American government from Georgetown University and her BA in journalism from Howard University. Samples of her work can be found at her website: has volunteered with a number of organizations centered around empowering youth and women, including serving on the Board of the Tripod Foundation (which provided scholarships and outreach to youth) and volunteering with The Reading Connection, an organization dedicated to encouraging reading during early childhood, especially in shelters for women and children leaving homes of domestic violence.
