About Dara Desai

Hello! My name is Dara Desai and I am currently attending the Univeristy of Florida. The intersection between environmental justice, public policy, and research is where my interests lie. I’m driven in connecting the bridge between sustainability and policy-making, with a focus on advocating for communities on a local level through public outreach and engagement. During my time as an undergraduate researcher at UF’s Institute of Food and Agriculture, I have acquired skills for both field and lab specific duties while working under amazingly driven individuals. Additionally, my role as a marketing intern for Cinema Verde allowed me to refine my abilities in media and communication, and hone in on outreach. I had the opportunity to produce promotional videos and graphics promoting the 2024 film festival and craft newsletter reaching a subscriber base of over 900 individuals. I am motivated and eager to participate in important work, whether that be through research or highlighting perspectives through media that is interesting and tangible to a multitude of audiences. I’m excited for new opportunities and the potential to work with peers who I can learn a great deal from!
