Worked with the vehicle dynamics team to explore suspension modeling and simulation concepts for a Formula-style race car. Built and analyzed simplified quarter-car models in MATLAB to study frequency response behavior using chirp inputs and compared inerter configurations to understand ride performance trends. Gained exposure to vehicle handling concepts such as the bicycle model and participated in iterative simulation discussions with teammates. Also attended aerodynamics layups, learning about composite structures and motorsport manufacturing workflows.

ABOUT DANYIL YEVSTAFIIEV
Mechanical engineering student at the University of Illinois with a growing interest in vehicle dynamics, automotive systems, and sustainable energy technologies. My experience spans student motorsports, early industry exposure, and project-based engineering programs where I have explored suspension modeling, electrification concepts, and real-world engineering workflows.Through Illini Electric Motorsports, I work with quarter-car suspension models and vehicle simulations in MATLAB, learning how engineering analysis translates into design decisions. I have also gained exposure to renewable energy systems through field experience with solar and hydroelectric projects, as well as multidisciplinary automotive concepts through engineering programs with Ferrari and Columbia University.I’m particularly interested in learning how mechanical systems behave in real environments - from vehicle handling and simulation to manufacturing and energy applications - and I’m always looking to grow through hands-on engineering experiences and collaboration.
