ABOUT DAN YANKLEY

My life has been molded by three distinct experiences. First, I grew up in a lower-middle class, single family household as the youngest of four. I learned that hard work was the only way to get what I wanted/needed. I learned how to be scrappy and resourceful. I learned that building alliances (relationships) was an easier way to get things done. Next, I took a course in my freshman year at Michigan State that covered principles of investing in the stock market. It was the first time numbers and data came alive for me. I learned how to rely on data to help influence/make decisions. Finally, I took a personal finance course with my fiancé right before we got married. I learned that behavior change is not an all or nothing proposition. I learned that doing things better incrementally snowballs over time into something great. So at my core is a good work ethic, data driven decision making, and developing good habits that behave like compound interest.tough to see each day but very meaningful over time.Today, I get to apply these passions and lead the charge for sales ops functions for a high growth vacation rental property management company. I design, implement and manage the sales forecasting, planning, and budgeting process while partnering with senior sales leaders to identify opportunities for sales process improvement, facilitate the implementation of new programs, and prioritize investments of sales enablement tools. I spend most of my time in the following areas (specialties if you will): optimal deployment of sales personnel including coverage models, defining and reporting optimal sales performance measures and performance management programs, collaboration with finance and human resources to establish rules, policies, and procedures associated with sales compensation, ensure internal and external intelligence is provided to the sales organization (mostly in the form of reporting), creation of budgets and plans that align sales goals to corporate goals, and accountability for the successful implementation of org impacting initiatives- I am a “sales guy” who is highly analytical- I don’t care who gets credit, I just want to win- I don’t claim to be the smartest guy in the room- I work hard because I want to retire when I’m 55- Although I have big ideas, I consider myself a doer - I am the calm one- I care about people (high emotional quotient)- I just want to win (not a typo)
