About Dan Sockle
In my over thirty years of public service, in communications intelligence, criminal and civil investigations, my task was to objectively focus on individual responsibility and actions, applying applicable laws as I collected physical, testimonial and circumstantial evidence. Cases often came down to weighing degrees of individual responsibility versus organizational accountability. Both at the federal and state levels, I was sometimes disappointed, as both an investigator and as a taxpayer, that the systems involved were often neither transparent nor accountable. In pursuing my masters in public administration, I was drawn towards mediation, finding it rewarding to assist people in conflict with both their communication skills and ability to problem-solve. These days, I serve on several boards and regularly interact with both public and private organizations. There simply must be higher goals and expectations relative to ethical conduct by both elected officials and public servants as a whole.Arising from a year in Iraq, where I served as a research manager and cultural advisor on Human Terrain Teams in Kirkuk and Baghdad, I have periodically instructed for Clark College, and spoken before a variety of educators, students and civic organizations regarding cultural outreach and how we can help prevent or resolve conflict by bringing focus to shared values and common interests - rather than the differences that divide, leading to fear, distrust and discord. Radical Islam (Islamism) is a very real global threat against which we must intelligently and constructively respond. Ultimately, we will not turn the tide on radical Islam without the genuinely moderate and peaceful Muslims taking the lead. Thus far, too many who have bravely stood up against the \"Jihadists\" have been killed, effectively intimidating others reluctant to do so for fear of harm to themselves or family. America and the \"West\" must get smarter relative to world cultures and religions.Specialties: • Investigative Operations• Training/Instructing/Facilitating• Negotiation and Mediation• Analytical Skills• Fiscal/operational budget reviews• Risk Management• Loss/Crime Prevention• Solution-Driven Philosophy• Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)• Case/Account Management• Communications Intelligence• QC Compliance• Leadership by Example• Community outreach
