ABOUT DANNY SHERWOOD

I work with NHS teams, housing providers, universities and voluntary sector organisations to create and improve services that genuinely work for both the people who use them and those who deliver them. Through my organisation, Co-create, I help organisations move beyond ‘tick-box’ engagement - supporting them to identify needs, build on local strengths, and design inclusive solutions rooted in both lived and professional experience.My approach is practical and collaborative, drawing on my own lived experience of disability and professional experience in the NHS and voluntary sectors. I have always been passionate about addressing health inequalities by working in partnership with those most affected; whether as patients, service users, residents or citizens.My career in health and co-production started as an expert-by-experience, drawing on my own long-term health condition to improve local services in North London. I went on to work in an NHS Recovery Colleges, and then established and led a new Recovery College in two forensic mental health hospitals. I joined Co-create as an Associate in 2019, and from 2024 have led the organisation. I’m really proud of our work supporting clients across health, housing and community settings to work in partnership with the people they serve and care for.I have degrees in anthropology and sociology, I’ve been a singer-songwriter, served as a Trustee and Board Co-Chair and even written a short book.
