Danna is the co-founder and executive director of Dogwood Alliance. For over 20 years, she has been at the forefront of forest protection in the US, leading hard-hitting grassroots campaigns and organizing with front-line communities, negotiating ground-breaking forest protection commitments from some of the largest companies in the world and helping catalyze a global effort to stop the use of forests as fuel for generating electricity. In the last two years she co-authored a report with a Pulitzer-Prize winning climate scientist entitled The Great American Stand: US forests and the Climate Emergency and was a leading partner and speaker on the Justice First Tour, engaging over 300 organizations in 12 states across the South to advance 100% clean energy, forest protection and environmental justice. She is a leading voice connecting the dots between climate change, forest destruction and social justice and pushing for forest protection in the US at a scale necessary to meet the sustainability challenges of the 21st Century. She holds a law degree from Emory University.

Co-founder and Executive Director of Dogwood Alliance, an award-winning non-profit organization that advances environmental justice and climate action by mobilizing diverse voices to defend the unique forests and communities of the Southern US. Oversee strategic planning, partnership development, communications, programs, fundraising, budget and staff management. Designed and ran a national grass-roots and media campaign that resulted in the largest companies in the office supply industry committing to transforming their paper purchasing policies to help protect forests in the Southern US - the largest paper producing region in the world. Negotiated commitments from four of the largest paper producers in the world to improve forestry practices, increasing protection for over 90 million acres of Southern forests. Helped lead the development of an international campaign to stop the large-scale burning of wood for electricity.
