About Dan Lavallee
As Associate Vice President of Community Engagement at UPMC Health Plan, I’m passionate about driving scalable, high-impact initiatives that align people, programs, and partnerships to improve health outcomes and overall community well-being. I lead a multi-million-dollar portfolio of programs that connect individuals and families to employment, healthcare, and other critical resources—helping communities across Pennsylvania thrive.I founded UPMC’s Pathways to Work program, which has hired over Medicaid members since 2021 and secured over $5 million in public funding to support individuals with barriers to employment. I also led the development of UPMC Health Plan’s first Neighborhood Center, a groundbreaking hub in Pittsburgh’s East End offering integrated workforce, health, and social services—now expanding to Erie in 2025.I’ve served in public policy and governance, including a run for Congress and appointments by Pennsylvania Governors Josh Shapiro and Tom Wolf to the PA Workforce Development Board and Slippery Rock University Council of Trustees.I’m proud to support mission-driven organizations as a board member for the United Way of Southwestern PA (where I co-chaired the $43M regional campaign), United Way of PA, Partner4Work, YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh, Boys & Girls Club of Western PA, and Imani Christian Academy.Recognized by Pittsburgh Magazine’s 40 Under 40, Managed Healthcare Executive’s 10 Emerging Leaders, and Achieva’s Excellence in Community Leadership Award, I bring a deep commitment to equity, innovation, and community collaboration to everything I do.Let’s connect—especially if you’re working at the intersection of health, workforce, and community and social impact.
