ABOUT DANILO PIANINI

I am currently a fixed-term junior researcher at the University of Bologna, operating in Cesena. My research themes include self-organizing software systems, simulation, next generation programming languages, software engineering, and software production processes (testing, automation, DevOps). On these topics, I published over 60 papers in international peer-reviewed journal and conferences. I teach several courses at my institution, mainly regarding programming, software engineering, and DevOps. For an up-to-date list, please consult my institutional profile. I am very skilled in Java and Kotlin, and can write and understand several other languages (non-exhaustive list: Python, Scala, Ruby, C, C#, Bash, Rust, Javascript, TypeScript, Prolog, Xtend), and I am generally pretty quick at learning new ones. I do love DevOps and I am a big fan of automating as much of the software production process as possible. My skills include advanced version control and related workflows (mainly with git), build systems (with more expertise son JVM-based tools and Gradle in particular), quality assurance (testing, static analysis), continuous integration, and continuous delivery. I am the chief architect of the Alchemist Simulator and the Protelis programming language. I authored dozens of open source software tools and contributed to several non-mine projects. I no longer can keep up with maintaining this profile, so please find my up-to-date scientific curriculum vitae at https://github.com/DanySK/Curriculum-Vitae/releases/latest/download/curriculum.pdf
