ABOUT DANIEL VERNER
I bring clarity and leadership to complex challenges — from capital projects and programs to business growth. Over the past 14 years, I’ve led large capital projects and strategic initiatives across oil refining and marketing, energy transition, and supply chain. What I’ve learned is this: most project failures don’t happen at the end — they happen at the beginning. I know how to get the early phases right — aligning the right people around the right scope and opportunity, and making decisions that hold up under pressure. Today, I manage major capital projects at Irving Oil, including high-impact initiatives tied to Canada’s largest refinery. I’ve worked on billion-dollar megaprojects, led business development efforts to unlock new growth, and coached project managers and emerging leaders to grow their impact and confidence. What drives me- Developing projects that fuel business growth and support a sustainable future - Driving capital decisions that save millions and maximize long-term value — before execution begins - Helping high-potential people become confident, effective PMs and leaders Outside of work, I stay close to innovation and community. I co-developed the latest version of the CII PDRI tool used worldwide to assess FEED maturity, and I’m helping lead the development of a community indoor tennis facility in Atlantic Canada.
