Responsible for ensuring the safety of RTD patrons, employees and facilities. This position is responsible for providing leadership and coordination of the organization’s safety and environmental compliance programs consistent with organizational needs, policies and governmental regulations and ensuring the safety of the organization’s employees, patrons and facilities. • Acts as the primary contact with outside regulatory agencies, and is expected to establish, manage and monitor all safety standards, processes and communication, to ensure compliance with Federal and State Safety Oversight standards and regulations. • Responsible for the development and implementation of the organization’s Safety Management System (SMS) to identify risks and effectively manage hazards to ensure the safety of employees, patrons, contractors, and the public • Creates specific training and organizational development plans and updates and implements training and safety processes. • Oversees the collection of and analysis of all safety related data; identify trends, measures safety performance and implements the actions required to improve performance. Provides management direction for major hazard assessments, risk management, industrial hygiene and comprehensive occupational and environmental management programs. • Directs and administers the process to obtain and comply with environmental permits; reviews supporting documentation required by various agencies; directs inventory procedures and recording of potential hazardous materials.
