ABOUT DANIEL MACK

An ardent advocate for violence reduction with an irrepressible sense of humor, I have spent almost two decades leading impactful policy initiatives, research, and advocacy efforts in the fields of human security, disarmament, arms control, human rights and violence reduction. I bring a wealth of experience in coordinating multi-stakeholder projects, advising on policy frameworks and recommendations, and collaborating with diverse international organizations, governments, civil society and campaigners to reduce armed violence. I have spearheaded critical projects aimed at strengthening global accountability and more stringent controls in the arms trade, particularly regarding small arms and the Americas, including recent efforts to bring human rights due diligence to the firearms industry. With deep experience in multilateral negotiations, I led initiatives that brought together stakeholders from around the world to develop innovative solutions to reduce violence and promote human security. My work has involved both high-level policy - speaking at UN plenaries or a congressional hearing in Brazil\'s Congress - and grassroots engagement, capacity-building and strategizing with local civil society in some of Latin America\'s most violent regions. Having managed programs in Brazil, the United States and Europe, I have gained a well-rounded and culturally-sensitive approach. My leadership style is humane; I believe human beings and a balanced life should take precedence to artificial deadlines, and try to lead with empathy, compassion, understanding and humor.
