A recent study revealed what we all know to be true. White speakers make up to 78% of voices being seen on stages, while only 22% of experts identified as Black, Asian, and Hispanic/Latinx descent. This discrepancy has led to some of the world’s most gifted individuals to be unseen, unheard, and underpaid. Being a black woman, I’m always inspired when I see men and women on stages who look like me. In fact, in 2015, I became a digital entrepreneur, long before the pandemic made being seen online the norm. There was no in-person networking. No live events. Just me creating real connections through the computer. After attending virtual summit after virtual summit, it became even more clear to me that the lack of representation in the speaking industry had to change. That experience is one of the main reasons why I strategically brand thought leaders of color so they can be seen, heard, lavishly celebrated, and highly paid for sharing their message with the world. WHY SPEAKERS & THOUGHT-LEADING EXPERTS OF COLOR? There’s a level of vulnerability that comes with speaking. Being willing to put yourself out there can feel like a scary thing.(And let’s not forget the countless hours of healing in order to finally give ourselves permission to shine brighter than before). I’ve felt the anger of knowing I have a message to share yet struggling to be consistently, highly paid for my many - valuable - years of experience.
