The Project Specialist: Makerspace Innovation Coach supports hands-on, design-thinking activities that align with core curriculum in school-based Makerspaces under the guidance of school leadership and teachers. This role involves collaborating with teachers to co-create STEM-focused projects and maintain a database of innovative uses for Maker tools across key areas such as robotics, digital design, and video production. The coach supervises students during class, lunch, and after-school drop-ins, guiding them in tinkering, prototyping, and project development. Responsibilities also include organizing schedules, ensuring safety protocols, maintaining materials, and supporting clerical tasks related to the Makerspace. A growth mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and a passion for invention and student-centered learning are essential. While a teaching credential is preferred, it is not required. The position emphasizes continuous professional development and encourages collaboration with a broader Maker Education community. This position will split time between San Lorenzo Valley High School and Sequoia High School in Watsonville. Candidates must be adaptable, reflective, and able to work effectively with diverse student populations.WaveMakers, in partnership with the Golden State Pathways Program, is dedicated to expanding industry-aligned Career & Technical Education (CTE) pathways to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in engineering, robotics, and technology-related fields.
