The Project Specialist: Makerspace Innovation Coach supports hands-on, design-thinking activities that align with core curriculum in school-based Makerspaces under the guidance of school leadership and teachers. This role involves collaborating with teachers to co-create STEM-focused projects and maintain a database of innovative uses for Maker tools across key areas such as robotics, digital design, and video production. The coach supervises students during class, lunch, and after-school drop-ins, guiding them in tinkering, prototyping, and project development. Responsibilities also include organizing schedules, ensuring safety protocols, maintaining materials, and supporting clerical tasks related to the Makerspace. A growth mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and a passion for invention and student-centered learning are essential. While a teaching credential is preferred, it is not required. The position emphasizes continuous professional development and encourages collaboration with a broader Maker Education community. This position will split time between San Lorenzo Valley High School and Sequoia High School in Watsonville.
