I didn’t follow the traditional path — and I’m proud of that.When I returned to school as a mature student at Okanagan College, I wasn’t just chasing a degree. I was building a future — for myself, and for my two children who were watching every step I took. Becoming a single mother partway through my studies could have derailed my plans. Instead, it became my driving force.I graduated as Valedictorian of the Okanagan School of Business in 2022, honoured with multiple leadership awards and the Lieutenant Governor’s Medal for Inclusion, Democracy, and Reconciliation. Not because my path was easy — but because I kept showing up when it was hard.Today, I’m a Senior Accountant at Doane Grant Thornton in Kelowna, BC, bringing a strong foundation in financial reporting, audit and assurance, tax compliance, and strategic financial analysis.I am passionate about delivering work that not only meets technical excellence but also provides meaningful insights that help businesses make stronger, more confident decisions.To me, accounting isn’t just about the numbers — it’s about building trust, creating clarity, and strengthening the organizations and communities we serve.Throughout my journey, I’ve been fortunate to receive recognition such as Kelowna’s Top 40 Under 40 — an honour that reflects not only personal milestones but the power of community, perseverance, and leadership.
