ABOUT DANIELLE L. WINTERS

I am ABD in Counselor Education and Supervision at Old Dominion University with significant experience in the domains of clinical work, research, teaching, supervision, and leadership. I have a special passion for working with servicemembers, veterans and their families, and hope to work with these populations as a predominant part of my career. I am currently researching expert opinions on using neurocounseling interventions in the treatment of combat trauma (my dissertation). Clinically, I have experience as an outpatient clinician working with many different populations, but have also worked extensively with couples, individuals with personality disorders and trauma, children/adolescents with anxiety and mood disorders, and members of the law enforcement/first responder/military community. I also have some experience working in a hospital inpatient environment, primarily with adolescents and teens. I practice primarily from a Gestalt/Rational Emotive/Neurocounseling theoretical orientation but pride myself on being flexible based on the needs of my clients. I was an Ohio Counseling Association Emerging Leader for 2016-17, which was a tremendous honor and has vastly increased my service to the counseling profession and my experience in counseling leadership. I also served as a liaison to the memberships committee of the Central Ohio Counseling Association. In addition, I have served on the Ohio Counseling Association\'s Government Relations Committee and have been a member of the OCA Legislative Advocacy Day committee. In 2008, I earned my Master of Public Administration, and would like to be able to develop a career that makes use of both my education in public administration and my education in mental health counseling and counselor education. I also love teaching and see this as being a major component of my future career trajectory. Involvement in leadership and philanthropy within the field of counseling, military support, and neurocounseling are of great interest to me, and I am always looking for opportunities to connect to individuals and volunteer opportunities that can help me grow in my knowledge and skills, while simultaneously allowing me to give back to my community.
