About Danielle Iwata

With over 10 years of experience in microbiology, I am passionate about providing accurate and timely testing to aid in the diagnosis and control of infectious diseases. I have a strong background in medical microbiology and bacteriology, and a certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. I am also fluent in Spanish, which allows me to communicate effectively with diverse populations and clients. As a microbiologist at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, I perform a wide range of tests for tuberculosis and other mycobacterial species, using culture, smear, DNA probe, and nucleic acid amplification techniques. I work with a team of dedicated and skilled professionals, and follow the highest standards of quality and safety. I also assist area hospital labs in the identification of rare or complex cases, and contribute to the surveillance and prevention of tuberculosis in the state. Some of the skills I use in this role include molecular, laboratory techniques, and laboratory skills.
