ABOUT DANIELLE ELLERBE

Danielle Ellerbe is the Academic Director of the Master of Health Administration program and an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in the Health Management and Policy Department. She is also a clinical faculty member in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences.Dr. Ellerbe graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Science in nursing and holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Johns Hopkins University. She brings experience in the healthcare sector from a clinical patient care and health systems perspective. Prior to accepting this position, she worked as an acute care registered nurse and a licensed family nurse practitioner, providing care to under-resourced patient populations in Boston, MA. She has conducted research on implicit bias and has implemented quality improvement projects among interprofessional healthcare teams to reduce the negative impact of implicit bias on the Black patient population. Additionally, she serves as a board member for a nonprofit medical foundation called Scalpel at The Cross and volunteers as a medical trip leader, coordinating medical teams in collaboration with local hospitals to provide access to orthopedic trauma surgery in Peru. She inspires her students to become leaders in health systems, working towards increasing equity in access to healthcare and improving health outcomes for vulnerable patient populations.
