At Genomics we build statistical models of genetically informed risk prediction across 10s of complex diseases including cardiovascular disease, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and diabetes. These models more accurately quantify a patient\'s risk and can be used as part of a quantitative in-vitro diagnostic medical device to more effectively and efficiently stratify patients, leading to more appropriate intervention recommendations and hence improved patient outcomes. I help develop and assess these models by: • Curating genetic data from public summary statistics and in house GWAS/meta-analyses. • Curating phenotypic data from electronic health records. • Developing, implementing, and applying novel statistical methods for constructing polygenic risk scores and predictive models that integrate PRS with non-genetic risk factors such as age, sex, and BMI. • Collaborating with legal colleagues to submit patents for some of these methods (e.g. https://patents.google.com/patent/WO20••••••96A1/ and https://patents.google.com/patent/WO20••••••97A1) • Collaborating with medical and health economic colleagues to generate value dossiers to demonstrate clinical validity and utility, as well as cost effectiveness. • Performing analyses for and writing up papers (doi.org/jfvp & doi.org/jfvq [co-1st author]) and presentations including to the C-suite, board, and external partners. • Creating and improving internal software tools (including automated testing and documentation). • Mentoring colleagues in concepts and best practices across statistics/science and software engineering.
