ABOUT DANIEL BLYDEN
Daniel is a designer, design facilitator and creative producer interested in the role of design in leadership and building design capacity in people and organisations. Drawing on a wealth of knowledge and experience with design-led innovation methods, tactical urbanism and a background in visual communications and event production, Daniel uses design theory to help teams and communities create playful learning spaces and cultures where everyone can participate in decision making. He was previously design lead at Impact Hub Birmingham and co-founder of Spaghetti, a strategic design and social innovation collective that worked with local government and public institutions to look at how they can design space to have important and valuable conversations to enact change. In 2015, Daniel co-founded the global jam community in Birmingham, creating an annual space where people of the city come together and experiment with design approaches to problem-solving and creativity, and continued to champion this community for many years to follow with a view to support creative talent to thrive. At CIVIC SQUARE, Daniel focuses on designing and hosting action-based learning experiences, that enable people to explore, manifest and demonstrate alternative possibilities as well as build creative confidence and collaborative working. This includes co-hosting and designing tools to support in-depth peer-to-peer learning journeys such as @Ecological Health in Neighbourhoods Peer-To-Peer Learning Journey and @Doughnut Economics Peer-To-Peer Learning Journeys, and activating approaches and practical toolkits for street-based organising in practice.
