ABOUT DANIEL FERNANDES
For over 15 years, I’ve worked at the intersection of financial planning, education, and public service. My career has taken me across Canada’s largest banks, through the launch of an advice-only firm, and into public service at the Ontario Pension Board - always anchored in the same mission: helping Canadians make confident financial decisions. Today, I serve as Director of Post-Secondary Engagement at FP Canada and as an Adjunct Professor of Financial Planning at York University. In both roles, I focus on building bridges between classrooms and careers. I collaborate with universities to align programs with CFP® and QAFP® certification pathways, and I work with employers to create pipelines to industry. My passion is simple: to grow the next generation of CFP® and QAFP® professionals - planners who are not only career-ready, but who serve Canadians with competence, care, and integrity. Outside of work, you’ll usually find me learning Taekwondo (badly) with my son or gymnastics (even worse) with my daughter. Both keep me grounded in the fact that growth is humbling, messy, and worth it. If you’re an educator, employer, or student shaping the future of financial planning, I’d love to connect.
