ABOUT DANIEL DANG
I always dreamed of working in a lab mixing toxic chemicals and rubbing my hands together all while laughing like a menacing mad scientist who lost his mind. So I did what I needed to do, after countless years of binge-watching Dexter\'s Laboratory and MythBusters, and maybe a little bit of studying, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at The University of Western Ontario. But something happened, an epiphany. I began to question what I wanted out of life and if studying chemistry was the right decision. I knew I yearned for something more, something different to learn. That\'s when it happened; the spark I was missing ignited as soon as I saw a cute German advertisement of a young child getting lost on purpose only to get driven home by Mercedes. And right at that moment, I knew I wanted to get a Mercedes, eh- I mean I wanted to pursue a career in marketing (okay, maybe both). I was fascinated with consumer behaviour and logic and how rational or irrational it can be. But, I was also interested in how companies use creativity to grow their business and sell their products. My particular love for creativity was in advertising and how companies crafted their advertising messages and ideas. Since then, I have enrolled myself in the marketing program at Fanshawe College, learning all the fundamental skills needed to understand consumer behaviour, sales process, search engine optimization, and what it takes to become a professional marketer. I have also been working as a marketer and technical sales specialist at PolyAnalytik Inc, a contract research organization specializing in the analysis of polymers and biopolymers. Throughout my experience, I have been able to gain invaluable industry experience all while combining and utilizing my marketing and chemistry knowledge. And this was a story of how I went from wanting to be the next Dr. Emmit Brown to an aspiring marketer.
