ABOUT DANIEL C.

My passion is cybersecurity, not simply my job. Having focused my work and experience in security operations, incident response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, security engineering and cloud security, for more than 12 years I\'ve had the honour of protecting some of Canada\'s most important retail and financial organizations.After successfully building and managing the SOC at one of Canada\'s largest retail corporations, I currently serve as the head of Security Operations for the country\'s most successful stock exchanges. Additionally, I have led worldwide projects in the UK and APAC regions, including various strategic SOC enhancements for a multinational financial institution that manages $2.6 trillion in assets, transforming difficult audit problems into practical security operations frameworks and deployments.Beyond the technical aspects, I enjoy establishing trusting bonds with clients, the high-performing teams I\'ve had the privilege of leading, and external stakeholders. Being a leader is about empowering others, not simply managing them which is becoming ever more important in this industry. Excellent employee satisfaction ratings and continuously favourable performance evaluations are results of my management strategy.Whether it\'s pursuing various technical and non-technical certifications, attending global conferences like DEFCON and Black Hat, local ones too shout-out to SecTor, or running hands-on experiments in my home lab, I always try to stay ahead in the ever-evolving world of cyber security. I\'m continually looking for new ways to strengthen defences and drive meaningful change in the industry.
