ABOUT DANIEL WESTON

I have substantial experience in using, building and developing mass spectrometry for application in solving complex biological, environmental and analytical problems. I have considerable knowledge of using MS for both small and large molecule applications, particularly in Drug Discovery and Development. I am experienced in explaining and presenting my data to both experts and non-experts, particularly in a Project Review and MIST arena. My research interests span rapid and selective analysis using ambient ionisation (e.g. DESI, DART, LDTD, TD-APCI), gas-phase selectivity using ion-mobility mass spectrometry (IMMS), and MS (MALDI) imaging for DMPK, in which I collaborate with a number of world-leading academic institutions. I have published 31 peer-reviewed research papers - selected publications are shown below.I am trained on a number of commercial LC-MS platforms, particularly in a structural characterisation (metabolite characterisation) context, such as the ThermoFisher Orbitrap and LTQ series, the Waters Synapt G2 and Q-ToF Premier, all with UPLC and relevant Met-ID software. I have used Kratos Axima MALDI-ToF, Agilent MSD and HCT ITMS, and ABI Q-STAR for proteomic applications. I have experience of using hybrid triple quadrupole MS platforms (Waters XEVO TQ and AB Sciex 5500QTRAP for Met-ID.Specialties: Metabolite profiling, structural elucidation and MIST analyses using accurate-mass LC-MS, QqQ and MSn; rapid and novel MS analyses using MALDI; LDTD; DESI; DART, often in conjunction with ion mobility MS (IMMS). Study outsourcing and study monitoring of ADME and Met-ID LC-MS studies with leading CROs.
