The Water Discovery Center is an educational organization dedicated to illuminating the history and ongoing operation of the New York City water supply system, a globally significant municipal infrastructure that promotes responsible watershed management, balancing public recreation with the critical protection of the Catskill Mountains\' natural resources. Its mission is to educate individuals of all ages about the precious nature of, and threats to, our planet\'s most vital resource—pure water. Utilizing the Catskill/Delaware Watershed as a living classroom, and drawing upon the history and experiences of those connected to this watershed, the Center inspires people through programs, exhibits, and events to care for, conserve, and protect their water resources for the benefit of future generations. The Center also conveys the narrative of community sacrifices made during the system\'s development, the rich cultural heritage of the watershed communities, and the remarkable natural abundance of the Catskills. Furthermore, it underscores the essential stewardship required for the sustainable access, collection, distribution, preservation, and protection of this vital freshwater resource and others worldwide.
